Wow I'm LOVING the fact these big 'behind the scenes' [at least as a writer in regards to Ne-Yo] names in music are finally getting a chance to work inside the labels as with them being involved with shows like the X-Factor, it can definitely only be a good thing for the industry. I just hope being with Motown doesn't damage our chances of getting albums from his 3 female signees as Motown are notoriously SHIT at everything. [I know they have Drake / Nicki Minaj / Kid Cudi but that only proves my point, these artists have their own buzz aside from their label to sell records and get video views as shown with Nicki's new video which has had no promotion but achieved over 4m views in under 24 hours, now that's artist buzz!]

It’s only one month into the new year, but Ne-Yo is making major moves. The Grammy-winning singer has signed to Motown Records and been appointed Senior Vice President of A&R.

After releasing four albums on Def Jam, Ne-Yo will transition to Motown and serve in a creative role, reports Billboard.biz. He will also bring his Compound Entertainment imprint to the label.

In his new position, the R&B gentleman will produce and mentor Motown’s artists, as well as sign and develop new talent.

“I’m honored that I’ve been given such a prestigious title and trusted with such responsibility; terrified because I know that playing this role in the fashion of one of my career role models, Mr. Smokey Robinson—these are big shoes to fill. But trust, I can handle it,” said Ne-Yo in a statement.

Barry Weiss, Island Def Jam Motown Chairman and CEO, added, “His track record of success at Def Jam will always be a benchmark. But this move to Motown will provide new and inspiring challenges for Ne-Yo as both an artist and a key member of the new senior management team that is taking form at the label in 2012.”

Ne-Yo’s fifth album and first for Motown, The Cracks in Mr. Perfect, is due this summer. He can currently be seen in George Lucas’ Red Tails and will appear as a mentor on the upcoming season of NBC’s “The Voice.”

Got into a fight with No ID, huh...

BTW I was listening to the Come Get It demo and it's written from a male perspective so prob not for Alexandra Burke originally, guessing an early Libra Scale track maybe...it also has a much better garage-y beat like Radioactive [why the fuck don't we have the instrumental of that Sad

], guess I never really gave it much attention lol

OMG I didn't even know the demo had leaked/it was even written by Ne-Yo this is why I need you here haha wish we had the full Alexis version... what was the Ne-Yo/SG/SV track you found called that we think is gonna be his first pop single? [guessing The Way U Move was just for the black/R&B crowd]

Haha I'm just talking shit, Ne-Yo will basically be doing what No ID is doing on Def Jam now I think, so...but in truth I actually think it's a very good move for all parties, to my knowledge Motown has been slacking off bigtime in the past few years and this might mean they will actually be putting shit out, for people like RaVaughn and Paula Campbell it means that they're on Motown, which is just plain dope no matter what, and now there's a semi-RN connection with another altogether different record company, could be hella dope. I heard Rita Ora on the radio today BTW haha that made me smile, it was that Hot Right Now track of course, but still, it's DnB, cheesy as it is, and all Rita, a shitload better than having her debut on a Tinchy Stryder or Tinie Tempah or Chipmunk or whatever track...
